Soil testing around an underground heating oil storage tank is only required when an underground tank is suspected of leaking, or if heating oil is known to have leaked into the ground. So chances are very good you will never need this service. But if you do, picking a name out of the phone book is just about the worst thing you could do.

Remember, most companies that do soil samples have a vested interest in finding a problem. They make the bulk of their money on the clean up so BE CAREFUL. Your local heating oil dealers have decades of experience working with companies who perform these tests and know better than anyone who are the most reputable names in the industry.
